Saving alert websites as an app on your iPhone

With bushfire, flood and weather information handled by so many organisations, keeping up-to-date on emergency alerts can become bewildering.

While it’s always wise to keep a battery-operated radio on-hand in case of emergencies, there’s one thing that most of us are practically glued to – our mobile phones.

It makes sense to be prepared by having it at our fingertips. Unfortunately, not every state has a ready-made app that you can download. But if you have an iPhone, there’s a simple solution – you can save websites as an app. It’s a fairly simple process.

We’ve complied a list of emergency services and news sources to get you started.

1. Use Safari to find the website you want, then click share

It’s down the bottom and looks like a square with an arrow pointing upwards.

2. Scroll down and select ‘Add to Home Screen’

3. Press ‘Add’

4. Access it like any other app
