A different kind of payout

You might know Lloyd’s as one of the world’s largest insurance marketplaces but we know them as one of our most recent donors.

After receiving a $4,500 donation via our website, we spoke to Regional Head of Lloyd’s Australia and New Zealand, Christopher Mackinnon, about the decision to support Rural & Remote Mental Health.

Mr Mackinnon explained that, when the team was left with a surplus in their 2020 corporate giving budget, they set about researching initiatives that helped Australia’s most vulnerable.

“At the end of the day, insurance is all about being there to help people recover from unforeseen circumstances, including natural disaster such as bushfires, floods and droughts,” Mr Mackinnon said.

“We have a clear focus on supporting customers experiencing vulnerability and financial hardship.

“Many of our staff have friends and family in rural and remote areas that have been directly impacted by all manner of challenges in recent years.

“We have also seen it first-hand through the work that we do with our customers.”

It was with this in mind that the Lloyd’s team decided on Rural & Remote Mental Health as its preferred charity.

“We had a team meeting to discuss where we wanted the funds to go,” Mr Mackinnon said.

“And we agreed that the work done by Rural & Remote Mental Health, helping people to start that all-important conversation, was a very worthy cause.”

Thank you to Mr Mackinnon and the staff at Lloyd’s for recognising and supporting our work!
